On the structural characteristics of 45S5-xSFO bioglass-ceramic composites for medical applications

Abstract Bioactive ferromagnetic glass-ceramics composites have been prepared through the combination of quenching and solid-state reaction (SSR) sintering methods, viewing their integration in biomedical applications. The material under study consists a glassy system with chemical formula (94-2 x )SiO 2 − Na O− CaO-6P O 5 , which acts as host-matrix for magnetic phase (strontium ferrite). samples were obtained by modified incorporation technique, where phase, previously synthetized SSR method, was added to glass-matrix desired proportions. physical properties investigated considering analysis X-ray diffraction well Raman spectroscopy techniques, both performed at room temperature. Results revealed formation partially crystallized bioglass-ceramics, strong influence on crystallization kinetics, suggests bioactive promising materials clinical treatments.
